The female graduates of the College of Computers and Information Systems at the University of Umm Al-Qura will participate with a scientific paper derived from their graduation project and entitled, ‘Tibyan Automated Arabic Correction Using Machine Learning in Detecting Syntactical Mistakes’ in the International Conference on Arabic Language and Linguistics (ICALL 2020).
The Conference will be held in Barcelona, Kingdom of Spain, on 11-12 June 2020 A.C.
It is worth mentioning that the Tibyan Project won first place in the Graduation Projects Competition held by the UQU Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the level of the university during the previous year. Moreover, the preliminary results of the Tibyan Project were presented at the annual INJAZ 2019 exhibition held at the college.
Artificial intelligence was used to discover and correct grammatical errors in the Arabic language, especially in the provisions of plural and dual. The team consisted of five students at the time from the Department of Computer Science: Nidaa Nadhir Khan, Husniyah Ali Ahmad, Ghufran Nur Bruhi, Hind Fahd Al-Suli, and Jawahir Sadiq Malibari. The project was supervised and followed up on beyond the graduation of the female students by Dr. Ashwaq Maghrabi, the Assistant Professor at the Department of Computer Science.
The College of Computers and Information Systems wishes all of them continued success and extends thanks to Dr. Ashwaq Maghrabi for her keenness and follow-up of the project until it yielded scientific and practical results.
