His Excellency Prof. Abdul-Wahab Al-Resini, the UQU Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, on Sunday (yesterday), 27 Rabi` Al-Awwal, 1441 A.H., launched the ‘Verified Fiqhi [Jurisprudential] Manuscripts Index’ program at his office in Al-Abdiyyah. The program was created by the PhD students at the Department of Shari`ah in the College of Shari`ah and Islamic Studies, under the supervision of Dr. Ismail Ghazi Ahmad Marhaba. The launching of the program took place in the presence of His Excellency the Dean of the College of Shari`ah and Islamic Studies, Dr. Ra'id bin Khalaf Al-Usaimi, and the students who participated in the creation of the program.
His Excellency the Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, Prof. Abdul-Wahab Al-Resini, was briefed on the idea of the program by Dr. Ismail Ghazi Ahmad Marhaba, who presented a detailed explanation of the program, noting that it aimed to follow up and critically analyze the papers addressing jurisprudential issues for PhD degrees. Moreover, Dr. Ismail Ghazi Ahmad Marhaba explained that the sources of this index came from the universities and academic journals in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Muslim World. He added that the college is looking forward to adding the database of the program to the homepage of the college, to facilitate its use.
He said that the program includes more than (1800) titles of verified scientific theses and papers, which were collected by the students of the respective specializations from the universities in Saudi Arabia and the rest of the Arab and Muslim World, continuing the work carried out by their colleagues from the class of the previous year. The index also included more than (200) scientific journals, and resources from (90) universities.
Moreover, Dr. Marhaba underlined the prominent results achieved by the index, highlighting the distinguished role played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in serving the Islamic heritage, and facilitating the search for the verified manuscripts for the university students in the kingdom and abroad, with the ability to determine the place and year of their verification.
Following the inauguration of the program, His Excellency the UQU Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research praised the lauded scientific research efforts, emphasizing that the UQU Vice Presidency for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research keenly works towards fostering the culture of scientific research among postgraduate students, diversifying their information and research resources, and acquainting them with the experiences of other universities in this regard. Lastly, he lauded the efforts exerted by the College of Shari`ah and Islamic Studies and the services the college provides in the field of postgraduate studies to benefit the students.
