Out of the principle of raising community awareness and the societal responsibility of the academic staff members that is represented in serving the community based on their field of specialization, the Department of Psychology activated the World Mental Health Day through an interactive session held at Al-Kawthar Kindergarten. This session was administered by Her Excellency Dr. Sumayyah bint Ezzat Sharaf, Professor of Psychological Health and Vice Dean of Scientific Research for Research Volunteering and Voluntary Research.
The session tackled the concept of psychological health and the aspects of psychological equilibrium. It pointed out the latest psychological studies and research that highlighted aspects of psychological health and disorders among children. It also dealt with behavioral techniques and methods that should be used to maintain the desired behavior of children. Moreover, the session displayed the latest and the most important psychological studies that revealed aspects of psychological problems, and how mothers and those caring for children should deal with them. Attendants included about 60 mothers and female teachers.
At the end of the session, the Head of the Kindergarten, Ms. Ufuq Arafah, honored the female trainer, and expressed her satisfaction about the benefits they acquired from the information given on how to deal with children and from the modern studies that deal with children's disorders. She hoped such beneficial interactive sessions would be repeated in the future.
