The College of Shari`ah and Islamic Studies, represented by the Vice Deanship of Training and Community Service, held a course entitled, "Skills in Dealing with an Abuser", on Tuesday, 23 Safar 1441 A.H., in Al-Jaffali Hall 2. The course was presented by Her Excellency Dr. Laila Al-Muqbel, a faculty member in the Department of Shari`ah, in the presence of the Vice Dean for Training and Community Service, Dr. Maha Al-Utaibi.
The course began by explaining the meaning of "abuse", clarifying how the Islamic religion preserved the human by enacting deterring laws that prevent abuse. This abuse may entail someone abusing another by being domineering or selfish. Abuse may take different forms, either physical or verbal, or by trespassing limits. Islam forbids abuse, and explains the ways of self-defense: either by returning good for evil or through requital. Her Excellency Dr. Laila explained how to deal with others, and the legitimate systems of self-defense.
At the end of the course, the Vice Dean for Training and Community Service Dr. Maha Al-Utaibi, thanked the presenter of the course, Dr. Laila Al-Muqbel, for her efforts.
