The students of the Media Department studying Media Campaign and Public Relations courses, under the supervision of Ms. Afnan Al-Sulami, led an activity as part of a package of awareness-raising media campaigns under the following headings: Nomophobia, DeTox, 285 Green, You Have Rights, and Children Without Childhood. The activity will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday 25 Safar 1441 A.H. in the college lobby.
The aim of the activity is to shed light on the social problems and issues taking place around us by presenting the negatives and positives to educate students on how to deal with them.
The “Nomophobia” campaign shed light on the phobia caused by the loss of a mobile phone, or being outside the network range, to raise awareness among students about the seriousness of the condition and its impact on their lives.
The “285 Green” campaign describes how Saudi Arabia was back in 1956, when it consisted of only 85 cities; by 2015 the number of cities had grown to 285. It aims to enhance the national character of the students to feel the responsibility towards improving the image of their homeland before the Arabs.
The “You Have Rights” campaign explained how Saudi law and order can help empower women to achieve their goals so that female students will be aware of the legitimate rights guaranteed to them by law.
The “Children without Childhood” campaign addressed the impact of fame on children to educate students and the university community in general on the negative aspects of fame and how dangerous it is to the future of children.
Finally, the “DeTox” campaign presented a background of the toxins caused by social networking sites, including frustration and psychological problems and how to get rid of them, and raised awareness of the danger of addiction to social networks, and how to persuade the users of their alternatives.
The campaigns were accompanied by presentations, publications, and spaces to write opinions to promote the desired concepts, which won the approval of many students and a number of faculty members.
