Under the auspices of His Excellency the President of Umm Al-Qura University, Prof. Abdullah bin Omar Bafail, the Ghars Volunteering Team, under the Deanship of Scientific Research, was honored at the ceremony held by the Deanship of Student Affairs. The ceremony was held on Wednesday, 10 Safar 1414 A.H., at 10 a.m., in King Saud Hall at the university headquarters in Al-Abdiyyah.
The Ghars Volunteering Team was established at the same time as the inception of the Vice Deanship of Scientific Research for Research Volunteering and Volunteering Research, in the academic year 1439 A.H./2017 A.C. Its vision is to achieve leadership and empowerment in the field of Research Volunteering in the Makkah Society. Its mission is to provide the best volunteering research services, recruiting and qualifying volunteers in the Makkah society in a proper, systematic and creative way. The team also aims to provide voluntary research services, spread the culture of scientific research and raising awareness of its ethics, and developing research skills of the male and female volunteers of scientific research.
The team has 86 female volunteer members: 28% of them are PhD students, 31% master's students, and 41% undergraduate students.
The Vice Deanship of Scientific Research for Research Volunteering and Volunteering Research, Her Excellency Dr. Sumayyah bint Ezzat Sharaf, thanked the female members of the Ghars Volunteering Team for providing high quality services. She further explained that the Deanship of Scientific Research is keen to provide all facilities available for all male and female volunteers, who are actively involved in the field of research volunteering, in line with the Saudi Vision 2030, in terms of increasing the number of volunteers, qualifying them, and supporting their services.
The Acting Dean of the Deanship of Scientific Research, Dr. Abdullah bin Omar Muhammad Baz, expressed his appreciation for the support of the Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Abdul-Wahab bin Abdullah Al-Resini, and the support of His Excellency the President of the University for the voluntary efforts in the service of scientific research. He highlighted the importance of providing voluntary services according to what has been approved by the Scientific Council in the bylaw of research volunteering and volunteering research, through the Ataa System, that has been developed to ensure the correct methodology of research volunteering at the University of Umm Al-Qura.
