Intellectual Awareness Unit at Umm Al-Qura University offered an intellectual meeting to convey its goals and mission, in collaboration with the Al-Leith University College and the College of Computers in Al-Leith. The meeting was broadcast to the female section. The Dean of Al-Leith University College, Dr. Muhammad bin Abdullah Al-Maliki, welcomed the unit members, and thanked them for their attendance.
The Deputy Chairman of the Intellectual Awareness Unit, Prof. Ayish Al-Bishri, presented an overview about the efforts, objectives and mission of the unit, and the mechanism of communicating with it. The unit member, Dr. Yusuf Al-Bahouth, also delivered an awareness-raising lecture entitled, "Moderation Landmarks". The lecture tackled the following topics: five necessities of the Shari`ah, moderation, Ahl-ul-Sunnah wal-Jama`ah (adherents to the Sunnah and the Muslim mainstream), obligation of obeying rulers, maintaining security, doubtful matters and whims, jurisprudence of priorities, and safeguarding communities.
At the end of the meeting, a group of questions and inquires related to this topic were answered.
