The Smoking and Narcotics Combating Committee at Umm Al-Qura University continues to monitor the implementation of the on-campus smoking ban, which is enforced based on article (7) of the executive regulations of the anti-smoking system. This article directly prohibits smoking in educational, health, sports, cultural, social, and charitable institutions.

The Director of the Smoking and Narcotics Combating Committee, Dr. Mish`al Al-Sulami, emphasized that the follow-up of the on-campus smoking ban comes under the direction of the UQU President, Prof. Abdullah bin Omar Bafail. The aim of the ban is to preserve the health of the UQU students and staff members from the harmful impact of this bad habit, which poses a threat to public health.

Dr. Mish`al Al-Sulami clarified that the smoking and narcotics combating team at the university conducted inspection rounds this morning at the university's headquarters in Al-Abdiyyah, in cooperation with the National Committee for Tobacco Control and the "Kafa" Association for raising awareness of the dangers of smoking and drugs.

Dr. Al-Sulami stressed that the Smoking and Narcotics Combating Committee will continue to perform its awareness and educational role by carrying out media campaigns and educational exhibitions, addressing all the members of the university community, including both the male and female sections at the university's main headquarters in Makkah and its branches in Al-Jamoum, Al-Qunfudhah, Al-Leith, and Adham governorates.
