The Saudi Scholarly Society for the Principles of Jurisprudence and Shari`ah Objectives (Osol), which is affiliated with the College of Shari`ah and Islamic Studies, in collaboration with the Department of Shari`ah (Female Section), held a scientific course for female students entitled "Renewal in the Fundamentals of Jurisprudence." The course was delivered by Prof. Arif Al-Rikabi, an academic member at the Department of Shari`ah, on Wednesday 13 Rajab, 1440 A.H., in the Khuqair Hall. His Eminence explained the definition of Renewal in the Fundamentals of Jurisprudence, the existence of various issues in the books of science of jurisprudence which have nothing to do with it, lack of knowledge of important issues, research, and parts such as the study of the objectives of Shari`ah and ways of renewing the religion in general. He also explained the need for many jurisprudence rules for clear pieces of evidence and jurisprudential applications.

The course was attended by a group of female postgraduate students and a group of female undergraduates. The attendants' enquiries were duly answered.

At the end of the course, the representative of the society, Dr. Huwaida Al-Lihaibi, thanked his Eminence Prof. Arif Al-Rikabi for the efforts he exerted in this course.
