Represented by the Deanship’s Student Club and the Student Club of the Medicine College and the Female Health Awareness section of the Makkah Public Health Awareness Department, the Preparatory Year Deanship (female division) of the medical study held an awareness-raising Campaign titled “Your Awareness Leads to Hope and Safety”. The Preparatory Year Vice Deanship for the medical study supervised and managed the Campaign on behalf of Prof. A’aliaa bint Abudllah Algendi. This goes with the efforts exerted by the World Health Organization (WHO) for combating the breast cancer, reflects the importance of the health education.
Among the objectives the Campaign focused on is the breast cancer early detection, reflecting the importance of health care and raising awareness of the society individuals with all their segments and ages combined. The Campaign took place on Sunday, October 23rd, 2016. Similarly, it featured an awareness corner. And the Deanship’s students formed human-shaped ribbon standing for the breast cancer emblem, reflecting an positive interaction from those in attendance.
On Tuesday, October 25th, 2016, Dr. Samar Ali Galal, the family medicine consultant and head of the Female Health Awareness section of the Makkah Health Awarness Department, gave a lecture about the breast cancer early detection means and means of prevention.
Still, such a Campaign was associated with a group of corners opened at the event. Among these corners are one showcasing a model for the breast cancer detection device (mammography); and another for the social service Department featuring the symptoms and ways of examination and the role of nutrition by having healthy foods. One more corner tackled the obesity and its role in developing the breast cancer and its progression stages. Similarly, out of raising awareness and educating about the breast cancer, all the corners included posters and printed matters such as brochures and others.
The Campaign witnessed a tangible interaction from the students and both administrative and academic staff members. To that effect, they were handed out rosy ribbons, and they inscribed words and praying on a board. And they also planted some flowers symbolizing hope by way of solidarity of the campaign.
Drawing the Campaign to a close, Prof. A’aliaa bnit Abdullah Algendi extended deep thanks and gratitude for those participated and contributed to launching the activities the awareness raising campaign “Your Awareness Leads to Hope and Safety”. In addition to this, all the participating entities were honored at the campaign.
