In a celebration for the International Day of Medical Physics under the slogan “Medical Physics for the Benefit of the Patient,” the Physics Department at UQU, in response to a kind invitation extended by the Saudi Medical Physics Society, joined the celebration activities of the International Day for Medical Physics held at King `Abdulaziz University Hospital, Jeddah, on Saturday 10 November 2018 A.C.
As part of the event, Dr. Hanan `Amir, Assistant Professor of Medical Physics in the UQU Department of Physics, gave a lecture entitled "Optical Coherence Tomography in Medical Diagnostic Imaging," in which she tackled the advantages of using the optical coherence technique to obtain three-dimensional (3D) images, and compared the high resolution of the OCT images with those produced through other medical imaging methods. She also presented a simulation to show how the technique works; it was followed with great interest and admiration by the audience. Dr. Hanan was honored at the end of the event.
Several UQU medical physics students attended the event, including Asrar Hassan Za`farani, Samar Muhammad Basnbal, Taif Nayif Al-Daj`ani, Rihab Mutaib Al-Muntashari, Raghad `Eid Al-Otaibi, and Samahir Kamal Rawas.
