The activities of the seventh 'My University is Part of the Hold Land' campaign were held under the slogan 'All Regions of Makkah are Sacred Land'. The campaign's activities were held on Wednesday, 6 Rabi` Al-Awwal, 1440 A.H. with the participation of the College of Applied Sciences, the Joint First Year Deanship (Medical Stream), and the College of Nursing in Al-Abdiyyah. The activities were attended by the Vice-Dean of the Joint First Year Deanship (Medical Stream), Dr. Azza Banuna, and a number of the academic staff.

The activities began at 10:30 a.m. with a Qur'anic recitation in the Internal Hall of the Joint First Year Deanship (Medical Stream), followed by a speech from Dr. Azza Banuna, who emphasized that it is not possible to adequately articulate the great status of the Holy City of Makkah. She expressed appreciation for all the efforts made for Makkah and urged the female students to feel gratitude for being residents of this holy place.

The students then performed a beautiful operetta entitled 'Longing for Makkah' in an impressive manner. The attendees then visited the galleries set up as part of these activities, the first of which was entitled ‘Merciful Hands’, which presented methods of treatment using prophetic medicine in service of the guests of the Merciful. In this gallery, the female students and one of the employees performed a theatrical skit in which they conveyed the merits of Makkah Al-Mukarramah, the sanctity of the regions surrounding it, and the meaning of sanctity.

Following this activity, the attendees visited a gallery entitled ‘Anamil Makkiyyah’ (Meccan Handmade Crafts) that displayed the students' products and designs (woven prayer mats, bracelets and accessories, and candles) that convey Makkah's distinctive characteristics.

Afterwards, the achievements board was introduced, and the voluntary services offered by the medical colleges during Hajj season were explained. The activities included another gallery entitled ‘The Sanctuary in Terms of Figures’, which explained the number of the Sanctuary's borders, who established them, the area of the Sanctuary, and the names and positions of the main entrances to Makkah. The participants touched upon the merits and blessings of the Holy City and made a brief presentation of all voluntary initiatives offered in the previous weeks to launch the ‘My University is Part of the Holy Land’ campaign.

In one of the galleries, the products of a workshop entitled ‘My Brush Tells a Story’ were exhibited. In this workshop, which was held last week, female students from the Joint First Year Deanship produced paintings of Makkah Al-Mukarramah. One of the galleries included a brief presentation about the daily habits of a Makkan girl who resides in an area surrounding the Sacred Mosque. In addition, the activities included a gallery that introduced other names of Makkah Al-Mukarramah and their meanings. Another gallery entitled ‘Prophetic Medicine as an Alternate Treatment for Many Diseases’ included information about the benefits of olive oil, truffles, talbina (a soup made of barley and milk), and black cumin.

Finally, the Hijazi Gallery was introduced under the title ‘Let's Get to Know the Most Sacred Land’. A cultural competition was then held about the meaning of the slogan ‘All Regions of Makkah are Sacred Land’, which discussed the borders of the Sanctuary set by Ibrahim (peace be upon him).

At the completion of the activities, thanks and appreciation were extended to the coordinators of Al-Abdiyyah colleges for their efforts in staging the 'My University is Part of the Holy Land' campaign. They include the coordinator of the College of Nursing, Dr. Sana' Awwad Al-Sulami; the coordinator of the College of Applied Medical Sciences, Ms. Samah Awwad Al-Subhi; and the two coordinators of the Joint First Year Deanship (Medical Stream), Dr. Ahlam Bubakr Busa`id, and Ms. Salihah Ayied Al-Asmari.
