Umm Al-Qura University Participates in Vienna International Book Fair

Umm Al-Qura University (UQU) participated in the 18th Vienna International Book Fair in Austria, which was held from November 7 to 11, 2018, in the pavilion of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Vice Dean of Library Affairs, Dr. Amina Naif Al-Ahmadi, headed the UQU delegation to the book fair. She was accompanied by Mr. Sameer Soudi from the Institute of Manuscripts and the Revival of the Islamic Heritage, and Mrs. Nahla Al-Solaymany from the Deanship of Library Affairs.

The Kingdom’s pavilion was inaugurated by the Ambassador of the Kingdom in Austria, Dr. Khalid Al-Jandan, and the Saudi Cultural Attaché, Dr. Abdul-Rahman Al-Homaidi, who visited the University's display and were briefed about the contents of the display, which included many intellectual and scientific materials from the University, such as historical books highlighting the glorious history of the Kingdom.

Dr. Amina Al-Ahmadi presented a copy of an Atlas of Makkah and a memorial shield that contains a documentary video about Umm Al-Qura University as a gift to his Excellency the Ambassador Dr. Khalid Al-Jandan and Cultural Attaché Dr. Abdul-Rahman Al-Homaidi. The gifts were highly appreciated.

Then his Excellency the Ambassador Dr. Al-Jamdan and the Cultural Attaché Dr. Al-Homaidi praised the University delegation.

Finally, the members of the participating delegates expressed appreciation for the care and support of the President of Umm Al-Qura University, Prof. Abdullah bin Omar Bafail, toward the participation in such international scientific forums which contribute in highlighting the University's scientific contribution and furthering its reputation on the international level. The delegation also praised the efforts of the Vice President of Umm Al-Qura University for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Dr. Thamir bin Hamdan Al-Harbi, and his continuous support for the activities of the Permanent Committee of exhibitions.
