The Vice-Deanship of the College of Shari'ah and Islamic Studies for Training and Community Service held, in cooperation with Ithraa Al-Motoon Company, a course entitled 'The Skill of Juristic Classification' on Thursday 30 Safar, 1440 A.H. The course was given by Dr. Talal bin Sulayman Al-Dusary of Qassim University, in the presence of Dr. Maha Al-`Utaybi, Vice Dean for Training and Community Service. The course was held for undergraduate students in the College of Shari`ah and similar colleges, and postgraduate students of jurisprudence and its principles.

Dr. Talal began the course by welcoming the audience, and then explained what is meant by this skill, which is the ability to divide the jurisprudential content according to multiple considerations, in terms of perception or judgment. The importance of this skill can be highlighted as follows: The jurisprudential classification contributes to systematizing many new cases and questions of jurisprudence; it helps in classifying the issues of jurisprudence, and compiling the scattered Fiqh classifications; juristic classification also contributes to diversifying the methods of teaching jurisprudence; and it opens the door for deep investigation of jurisprudential questions.

His Excellence also talked about the different approaches of the jurists in the making of classifications. He pointed out that the most important of these approaches are: identifying the type of classification with stating its consideration; identifying the classification without reference to its consideration; and no explicit identification of the classification but reference to implied classifications may be noted in the text.
