The College of Pharmacy Receives a Delegation from Strathclyde University

His Excellency the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Umm Al-Qura University, Dr. Saud Salim Bawazir, their Excellencies the vice deans, and the heads of the departments received a delegation from the College of Pharmacy, Strathclyde University, on Monday, 23 October, 2018. The meeting was also attended by His Excellency Dr. Ibrahim Abu Khadrah, Associate Professor and International Cooperation Officer at the College of Sciences and the Faculty of Pharmacy, Strathclyde University. 


At the beginning of the meeting, His Excellency Dr. Saud Bawazir gave detailed information about the College of Pharmacy, Umm Al-Qura University, its different departments, and the academic programs it provides. 


His Excellency Dr. Saud referred to the efforts exerted by His Excellency the President of Umm Al-Qura University, Dr. Abdullah bin Omar Bafail, which are manifested in his eagerness to ensure that Umm Al-Qura University becomes one of the most distinguished universities both in the Kingdom and internationally. 
During this visit, many topics were discussed in an attempt to seek ways of cooperation with the College of Pharmacy, Strathclyde University, in terms of collaboration in the field of scientific research among the academic staff of both colleges, and the exchange of scientific visits. In addition, it was agreed to form a committee to be headed by His Excellency Dr. Saud for the purpose of developing the curricula and implementing the Integrated System, which is one of the pharmaceutical education systems at Strathclyde University. 


It was also agreed with His Excellency the Dean of the College, Dr. Saud Bawazir, that a delegation from Strathclyde University would pay frequent visits to the College of Pharmacy, Umm Al-Qura University, in order to review the current curricula and provide reports and suggestions to develop it. It was also agreed to develop two joint master programs, to allow for joint supervision during the doctorate phase, and to provide joint clinical residency programs. 


At the end of the visit, His Excellency Dr. Saud Bawazir thanked the visiting delegation and confirmed the importance of joint cooperation between the College of Pharmacy, Umm Al-Qura University and the College of Pharmacy, Strathclyde University. 
It is worth mentioning that Strathclyde University is one of the most prestigious universities in the world, especially in the field of pharmacy. It has been ranked first according to the evaluation of the colleges of pharmacy in British universities as per the Complete University Guide's website. It has also been ranked fourth according to the QS World University Rankings due to its excellence in the academic field.
