Under the auspices of HE UQU President Bakri bin m'atoog Assas, Dr. Hani Othman Ghazi, Vice-President for Academic Development and Community Service, inaugurated the celebration held by the Deanship of Library Affairs to mark the "Arabic Manuscript Day" that came within the celebration of the ALECSO Institute of Arabic Manuscripts of this Day. The Deanship of Library Affairs seeks to develop its collections of manuscripts. King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Library comprises 3000 original manuscripts and 47044 different digital manuscripts from African countries such as Ethiopia, Mali and Mauritania, from European countries such as Spain and Denmark and from Asian countries such as Turkey, India and Pakistan, etc.
The Deanship organized a hall for exhibiting original manuscripts for three days starting from Monday 26/06/1437 AH corresponding to 04/04/2016 AD from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The Deanship's program includes regular visits for a selection of Mecca's schools to attend the "Arabic Manuscript Day" event and learn about how to maintain and repair manuscripts through a visit to the Library's Department of Sterilization and Rehabilitation. The event was documented by Saudi Television and many Saudi newspapers.
