Under the patronage of Dr. Saad bin Saeed Al-Ghamdy, Dean of the Preparatory Year Deanship, and the supervision of Dr. Azza bint Muhammad Bannouna, Vice-Dean of the Preparatory Year Deanship for the Medical Track (Girls Section) in Abediyah, the female staff members of the Learning Skills Course organized an event entitled, "Some Peoples' Cultures.” The event was held on Thursday, 3rd Shaaban 1439H.

At 10:00 am, Dr. Azza Bannouna inaugurated the event in the presence of a large group of the Deanship’s affiliates, other UQU Departments’ visitors, as well as students. The event was started with the Saudi National Anthem, and therefore attendees stood up to salute the flag of the homeland that gave, and still offers, us a lot. This was followed by a distinctive show of both Hijazi Majass and Hijazi Shahri Malka. In this context, students presented the Hijazi costume and carried the “Ma’asher.” In addition, “Sweet Almond Coffee” was distributed in a delightful atmosphere of Hijazi tradition. Then, the Indian Wedding Procession (Zaffah) was demonstrated under the title, “Henna Night/Muhannadi.” Students wore decent colorful Indian costume, while Henna and Guta (embroidery) were distributed among the attendees. When it was time for the Moroccan Zaffah, students presented a Moroccan fashion show that gained the joyful participation of the audience. This was followed by a special Spanish costume and culture show. Then, the Egyptian corner was exceptional as it presented the “Sobou’” (newborn baby celebration), before a Saudi Southern show from “Abha.” Afterwards, the Hawaiian corner witnessed the participation of students who demonstrated the most significant fruit and costume of the region. It is worth mentioning that each corner was given a number for the winning corner nominations that were based on achieving the following evaluation criteria: presentation of the country’s culture, innovative provision of information, cooperation between participants. In this regard, evaluation papers were distributed among the attendees.

To conclude, the event witnessed a great remarkable interaction of students, affiliates and staff members. All attendees expressed their great pleasure with such excellence in performances and cultural diversity that encouraged coexistence and acceptance of the other.
