Students of Engineering & Computers Colleges Visit Tahamah Cement Plant

The students of Engineering and Computers Colleges in Al-Qunfudah, on Tuesday 3/07/1439 AH, paid a field visit to Tahamah Cement Plant in Thalouth Emara, affiliated to Southern Province Cement Company. Among three branches, Tahamah is the biggest one; whereas its cement production capacity reaches (15000 tons) per day, with 3 production lines, up to (500 tons) per day for each.

During this visit, the students were accompanied by Dr. Alwi Ba-mahdi, vice dean of Al-Qunfudhah Engineering College, and Dr. Ibrahim Al-Moree, head f the Construction Department. The students were received by the supervisors of the main sections of production, they are: Eng. Faisal Al-Shaharni, Eng. Abdullah Al-Shahri, and Eng. Mohammed Al-Ghamdi. They welcomed the students and talked about the factory’s buildings; starting with the power and water plant, through the crushers, mills and smelters, and then the control of production unit. Eng. Mazen Al-Hazmi, supervisor of the control department, talked about the importance of the production lines and how to monitor them. The director of production, Eng. Mohamed Diaa, shared him the explanation to the students. Thereafter, the students went to the quality control department to identify the technical specifications and how to select samples for testing throughout the day. They also watched how the robot was able to receive and transfer samples between the testing stages.

At the end of their tour, the students went to the site where the liquid cement is packed and the dry and powdered cement is loaded. These are the last stages of production in the factory.

The factory’s administrative manager, Mr. Mohammed Saeed Al-Fasily, at the end of the visit, extended his welcome to the students of the two colleges and their professors, who were pleased with the tour and the potential as well as equipment. He wished that the student benefited from the visit, and hoped they become effective cadres in this nation.  

Dr. Alwi Ba-mahdi, the head of Construction Department and students thanked the staff at the factory for their warm welcome and efforts; wishing them success.
