Under the patronage of Dr. Saad bin Saeed Al-Ghamdy, Dean of the Preparatory Year Deanship, and within the framework of cooperation between the Deanship’s Unit of Training and Development and the Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Education, a workshop on using (U-Board lite) in the educational process was held on Sunday, 16th Jumada II 1439H (4th March 2018). The workshop was presented by Lecturer/ Yamen Al-Abwiny, Staff member at the Preparatory Year Deanship, in the distinctive presence of staff members of the Deanship’s various departments. In addition, it witnessed the steady follow-up of Dr. Saad Al-Ghamdy in order to identify the Unit’s activities and role in developing the skills of staff members regarding the use of technological innovations and employment thereof in the service of the educational process.

The two-hour workshop started with an introduction about the working mechanism of (U-Board lite). It also explained the extent to which it directly contributed in enriching the scientific and educational material via exciting, interesting and attractive presentation. Practically, the device was installed on the regular board, and calibrated through its software to convert the ordinary board into a smart board. Then, the method to use the accompanying supporting software with the software of the device was explained in brief. In addition, the workshop tackled the methods to save, store and print the digital content generated through the device and its supporting applications, and the ways to record audio and video and send them by e-mail.

At the end of the workshop, the lecturer allowed the attendees to practically apply the usage techniques of the device to the projector-linked board. Besides, the attendees exchanged discussions and experiences.

In this context, Dr. Saad Al-Ghamdy pointed out that the Deanship regarded training, professional development and employment of technological innovations in the educational process as a continuous approach to the development of its staff members. This was in line with the priorities of UQU Vice-Presidency for Educational Affairs headed by Prof. Dr. Abdulaziz bin Rashad Soroujy, and in light of the strategic plan of such blessed university. He added that both science and place were blessed with the leadership of Dr. Bakri bin Maatouq Assas.
