the Department of Arabic Language at the University College in Al-Jamoum organized a wonderful celebration for the World Arabic Language Day on Monday, Rabi’ I 30, 1439H, corresponding to December 18, 2017. The program included an introduction about the World Arabic Language Day, followed by a speech for Dr. Tawfik bin Ali Al-Sharif, the Dean of the College, and another one for Dr. Omar bin Saleh Al-Maleki, the Head of the Department. After that, a lecture was given by Dr. Nasser Al-Saeidi, under the title of “the Role of the Arabic Language in the Western Civilization”. The celebration was concluded with competitions, in which all the students participated. Also, brochures were distributed to publicize the World Arabic Language Day and the role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia since 1950s to urge the United Nations General Assembly to issue its resolution no. 3190 in December 1973 that announced the Arabic language as one of the official and working languages in the United Nations.
