Dr. Bakri bin Maatouq Assas, President of Umm Al-Qura University (UQU), reviewed the achievements of the College of Applied Medical Sciences in the past five years. Above all such achievements was the acquisition of the International Academic Accreditation. This was during a meeting with Dr. Ahmad bin Muhammad Eshi (Dean of the College), the vice-deans, as well as a number of staff members at the UQU President’s office in the Abediyah-based University City.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Ahmad Eshi appreciated the support and care by Dr. Assas for all what could upgrade the educational, research and knowledge system. He also thanked him for his concern to remove any obstacles in the way of students, in order to enhance the level and capabilities of the educational process outputs according to the scientific standards pursued by the University.
In the same context, Dr. Eshi demonstrated the achievements of the College of Applied Medical Sciences in the past five years. He confirmed that the acquisition of the International Academic Accreditation led all such achievements. He also talked about the establishment of innovative academic programs that met the requirements of the labor market and the needs of the community, including Respiratory Care and Physiotherapy for female students. Moreover, he noted that the College’s research cadres achieved excellence in the domain of research and publishing rate, which resulted in 7 patents.
Dr. Eshi added that the College obtained a number of local and international scientific awards. In addition, he pointed out that the College contributed in community service with 49 events. He also noted that frameworks and features of the College’s future vision and strategic plan were developed and put into action in line with the Saudi Vision 2030. Besides, he hailed the efforts exerted by the College’s vice-deans, staff members and employees, which contributed to the creation of a proper educational environment.
In turn, the President of UQU praised the aforementioned efforts which contributed to the creation of an attractive educational environment for teaching and learning. He added that he hoped for more diligence to improve the educational and research system.
At the end of the meeting, the Dean of the College handed UQU President a memorial shield for his effective role in the achievements of the College.
