Medical Applied Sciences and “Institutional Transformation” Program to Serve the Saudi Vision 2030

The Dean of the College of Medical Applied Sciences, Dr. Ahmed Bin Muhammad Ashie, launched today, Thursday, Shaba’an 5, 1437H, the “Institutional Transformation” program for the College of Medical Applied Sciences at Umm al-Qura University (UQU).

Dr. Ashie denoted that the college is committed to applying the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 as a reference when making decisions, ensuring the harmonization of future projects with the pillars of the vision, and reinforcing immediate work on the implementation of the vision.

The “Institutional Transformation” program aims to activate the College’s engagement to achieve the vision of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia 2030, through the commitment to serving the pilgrims and enhancing the quality of services provided to them so as to receive and serve 15,000,000 pilgrims annually, by the year 1442H- 2020G. 

Furthermore, the “Institutional Transformation” program of the College of Medical Applied Sciences works on improving university education for students, directing researches, students’ projects, and community service programs towards the Saudi Vision 2030 so as to ensure working on its pillars and achieving its objectives. In addition, the program contributes to enhancing the institutional performance of the college, according to performance indicators, achieving transparency and flexibility, adhering to efficiency of expenditure and financial balance while maintaining the resources, and cooperating with all sectors and bodies.

Moreover, the program works on empowering youth volunteers and promoting the culture of volunteerism among college staff, students and administrators. It also aims at increasing the cooperation with the non-profit sector in implementing joint academic, research, health and social programs to serve the pilgrims.

Over and above, along with launching the “Institutional Transformation” program for the College of Medical Applied Sciences, the Dean of the college announced launch a set of initiatives for the sake of achieving the vision. The most prominent of them are as follows:

  1. Launching “Institutional Transformation” program for the College of Medical Applied Sciences under the auspices of the UQU President, Dr. Bakri Bin Maatouq Assas, on Monday, Sha’aban 9, at the main meetings room at the headquarter of the College of Medical Applied Sciences, and opening the accompanying students’ exhibition for the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
  2. Holding academic initiatives to achieve the Kingdom’s Vision 2030: through integrating Hajj, Umrah and Visitation into the medical education process, reinforcing psychical activity and preventive healthcare, and linking the vision with the teaching process, as the college has initiated linking the vision with the curricula of the “Strategic Planning and Health Services Marketing” course for the students of the Health Management Department- Fourth Year. The college has also started to design an optional course for the sake of preparing the students to achieve the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, building students’ personalities, preparing them for the job market, and training them on innovation and entrepreneurship.
  3.  Holding research initiatives to achieve the Kingdom’s Vision 2030: through directing researches and graduation projects towards the fields of Hajj, Umrah and Visitation, and reinforcing psychical activity and preventive healthcare.
  4. Holding social initiatives to achieve the Kingdom’s Vision 2030: through the Community Service and Volunteerism programs, as the college has collaborated with the General Presidency for Grand Mosque and Al-Nabawi Mosque Affairs, to provide health services for pilgrims, since the Hajj season of 1434H, by its staff members and students, and raise the latter’s level of psychical activity. 

 

In conclusion, Dr. Ashie extended thanks and gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, HRH the Crown Prince and Minister of Interior Affairs, Prince Muhammad Bin Naief, and HRH Deputy Crown Prince and Minister of Defense, Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, for their continued support to the education sector and students, and their eagerness to open future opportunities to increase their contribution in serving the country. He also thanked Dr. Bakri Bin Maatouq Assas, the UQU President, for his support to the College of Medical Applied Sciences, and for adopting the “Institutional Transformation” program at the college.
