Dr. Khalid bin Eid Al-Jeraisy, Head of the Department of Sharia, along with Dr. Aref Rikabi (Chairman of Scientific Committee of the Department) and Dr. Abdulmohaimen Al-Khatib, visited the scholarship (Undergraduate and postgraduate) students at the Department of Sharia, College of Sharia and Islamic Studies, on Monday night, 12th Shaaban 1438H at one of the halls of UQU housing. The meeting, which was attended by about 70 students, extended after the evening prayer directly until 11:00 am.

At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Khaled Al-Jeraisy thanked the students for their care and keenness to attend the meeting despite the final exams. Moreover, he reminded them of the grace of seeking the knowledge of and affiliation to the Islamic law, and their divine guidance to seek knowledge in such holy land. He also explained the objectives of the meeting, and the keenness of the College and the Department to take care of, help and provide them with what was necessary. In addition, he shed light on the noble goals for which the State allocated such grants to Muslims from all over the world.

In the same context, Dr. Al-Jeraisy expressed to the students the Department’s determination to establish a special committee for scholarship students, the programs and activities of which would start in the near future, God willing. He also gave examples of some programs that would be implemented.

Within the same vein, Dr. Al-Jeraisy accentuated the concern of Sharia staff members, lecturers and teaching assistants for participation in scholarship students’ sponsorship programs, and their sincere desire to contribute to various scientific, educational and cultural aspects.

He also stressed that among the objectives of such meeting were listening to the wishes of the fellow scholarship students and identifying their proposals and problems, if any. This would be achieved and addressed with the aim to offer help to students (After the help of Allah) with the fulfillment of the objectives of their study at such prestigious College and facilitation of their knowledge-seeking.

During the meeting, a questionnaire was distributed containing the personal information, proposals and programs that students wished to achieve.

All students’ oral proposals were written and added to the already-written proposals in the questionnaire to be submitted to the Deanship of the College.

Dr. Al-Jeraisy also answered a number of questions and inquiries related to the academic aspects, plans and curricula of the undergraduate and postgraduate programs in the Department.

In the same context, he thanked the students who supervised the preparation for the meeting, announced it, and established a special WhatsApp group to communicate with the Department.

One of the recommendations of the meeting was the election of five students of various levels of study and from different countries to be the main link between the students and the Department at that period.

On the other hand, the students happily thanked their College, represented by both the Department of Sharia and its head, for their keenness to help them. They also expressed their joy with being told of the plans to develop scientific, training and educational programs to give them more talents in the legitimate sciences.  After the meeting, everyone ate dinner at the dining hall next to the mosque.
