On behalf of the President of Umm Al-Qura University, Prof. Moaddi bin Muhammad Aal-Madh-hab, the UQU Vice President for Development and Community Service, Dr. Ali bin Muhammad Al-Shaeri, headed the university delegation visiting the Disabled Children's Association at the Makkah Center. The visit took place on Wednesday, 22 Safar 1443 A.H., at 11:00 a.m., at the association's headquarters.
The UQU Vice President for Development and Community Service was accompanied by the representative of the General Supervisor of the Administration of Voluntary Work and Social Responsibility, Dr. Sumayya Ezzat Sharaf, the Dean of the College of Applied Medical Sciences, Dr. Radhi bin Taha Al-Safi, the Head of the Department of Physiotherapy, Dr. Muhammad bin Saeed Al-Ghamdi, the Vice Dean for Student Activities, Dr. Nahlaa bint Hashim Hariri, the Head of the Department of Special Education, Dr. Adnan bin Ma`tuq Al-Thubaiti, an academic staff member in the Department of Kindergarten, Dr. Amal bint Muhammad Bannona, and a number of volunteers who joined the activities with the association's children, including coloring and carrying out some scientific and artistic activities.
The university delegation was received by the Head of the Association of Disabled Children in Makkah Al-Mukarramah, Ms. Sulaf bint Muhammad Hijazi, the work team in the Volunteering and Public Relations Unit, and a number of the families of the disabled children.
The Director of the Center accompanied the university delegation when they toured the consulting and diagnostic clinics located in the center. During the tour, the director explained to the delegation all the services offered by the center to children with disabilities and their families, and he lauded the partnership with the university in providing the specialized volunteering services which support the activities of the association and achieve the common goals of the two sides.
On his part, the UQU Vice President for Development and Community Service said that the university, as part of its social responsibility role, is very keen to provide the voluntary health, educational and advisory services to the non-profit sector in an effort to serve all individuals and segments of society in this precious country. He added that the wise leadership in this country pays close attention to the people with special needs, through the meaningful programs of the vision, to enable them to improve the quality of their life as much as possible.
The visit is one of the initiatives of the Administration of Voluntary Work and Social Responsibility in the university and was held in cooperation with the Ghadan Company and Salem bin Mahfouz Foundation.
