Charitable Work Conference

Umm Al-Qura University, represented by the College of Shari`ah and Islamic Studies, will hold an international conference on the purposes, rules, and applications of charity work, with the participation of Al-Huda Center for Shari`ah-Related Studies and Charitable Work. The conference will be held in Makkah on 2 and 3 Safar, 1441 A.H.

The conference seeks to achieve the following objectives:

  1. Highlighting and establishing the Islamic legal purposes and the general issues of charitable work.
  2. Promoting the renovating course of the jurisprudence of contemporary charitable work in light of the Islamic legal purposes and rules, as well as the applicable laws.
  3. Enhancing the leadership of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in charitable and humanitarian work.

Themes of the Conference

First Theme: Charitable Work and its Role in Community Reform

  1. Charitable work and community reform (concepts and foundation of the origins).
  2. Charitable work and its impact on family and social reform.
  3. Charitable work and its impact on financial and economic reform.
  4. Charitable work and its impact on psychological and educational reform.
  5. Charitable work and its impact on cultural and ideological reform.

Second Theme: Islamic Legal Purposes of Charitable Work

  1. General purposes of charitable work.
  2. Secondary purposes of charitable work.
  3. Impact of the consideration of the purposes of charitable work.
  4. Contribution of charitable work to the fulfillment of the Islamic legal purposes.
  5. Public interest and its relation to charitable work.

Third Theme: Islamic Fundamental and Jurisprudence Rules in the Organization of Charitable Work

  1. Islamic fundamental rules impacting the new issues of charitable work.
  2. Islamic jurisprudential rules related to the new issues of charitable work.
  3. Rules of precedence in charitable work programs.
  4. Rules of necessity and need in charitable work.
  5. Islamic jurisprudence of consequences and its impact on charitable work.

Fourth Theme: Applications of Charitable Work in Light of its Rules and Purposes

  1. In the financial field (accepting money from forbidden sources, acts of benevolence, donations, etc.).
  2. In the field of Da`wah and education.
  3. In the field of media and marketing.
  4. During pandemics and times of need.
  5. Historical models related to the consideration of the purposes of Shari`ah in charitable work.

Fifth Theme: Role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Serving Charitable Work

  1. Role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in considering the purposes of Shari`ah in charitable work at the national level (giving examples).
  2. Role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in considering the purposes of Shari`ah in charitable work at the international level (giving examples).
