The ceremony began with the royal anthem, followed by a recitation of
some verses of the Noble Qur'an. Next, Ms. Rania Abdullah bin Ebeid from
the Public Relations Unit started the activities of the ceremony by
delivering the following introduction: "Peace and blessings be upon you.
Many happy returns for our Saudi Nation. And prayers for the prosperity
and good health for our King and Crown Prince. I congratulate, from my
heart, each Saudi national (male and female) on our National Day, this
special day which is a precious occasion that comes each year. On this
day, King Abdul-Aziz bin Abdul-Rahman Aal Saud (may Allah rest his soul)
announced the unification of the different parts of this virtuous and
noble country under the name of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. As a
result, a strong country proud of its commitment to the legislation of
Islam was established, spreading Islam’s tolerant teachings and human
values to all the corners of the world, disseminating peace, goodness
and the blessed Da`wa, as well as seeking scientific progress and
development. On the twenty third of September (first day of Libra) each
year, we all stand surrounding our flag, proud of our religion ...
defending our country and land which is the land of the heavenly message
... united and working together to build the future, thanks be to Allah,
the Lord of the Worlds."
Next, the Vice Dean of the College, Dr. Aalaa Muhammad Al-Qahtani,
delivered a speech in which she said: "We celebrate today, under the
shade of our wise government, the occasion of unification of the Kingdom
of Saudi Arabia. We celebrate 89 years of generosity, giving and efforts
of ancestors, fathers, mothers and teachers of the generations, to hold
the trusteeship on their behalf and deliver it generously to our
daughters and the next generations, to reach the top, to take shade
under the umbrella of our dear country, and to achieve our ambitions and
the vision 2030 of our dear kingdom. All of this with pride as well as
gratitude to Allah, and then to the homeland for building a conscious
promising future whose ambition reaches the sky."
She added: "In my name and the name of the College of Pharmacy, we
extend great congratulations to His Royal Highness King Salman bin
Abdul-Aziz and His Crown Prince, His Royal Highness Prince Muhammad bin
Salman. May Allah bless them with long lives, and grant them success in
their efforts. We pray to Allah (Glorified and Exalted be He) to keep us
happy and maintain the blessing of security and safety of our beloved
country. May you, my dear lofty country whose glories flutter highly and
vigorously to the top, remain secure and safe."
This was followed by a show about the kings of the Kingdom of Saudi
Arabia and their speeches. Then a presentation on the history of
pharmacology in Saudi Arabia and the services offered by our beloved
kingdom to pharmacists was made. A performance of the Saudi Ardah dance
was also presented, which was followed by a surprise: the distribution
of prizes to the attendees (discount coupons and meals offered by the
sponsors).
The celebration ended with praising Allah and thanking Him for the
blessing of our homeland, and the blessing of safety and security. The
attendees then had dinner.
