1. Conducting research studies on historical and cultural epochs, topics and issues related to the history of Makkah  
2. Holding two scientific lectures annually on the fields of the Chair
3. Organizing a number of scientific seminars on the history and heritage of Makkah, and publishing the authorities’ researches in precise scientific publication
4. Supporting the theses of the postgraduate students at Umm Al Qura History Department relevant to the history of Makkah
5. Studying   a masterpiece on Makkah history annually
6. Translating one of the foreign masterpieces on the history of Makkah annually, and another from Arabic into other languages
7. Publishing one of the masterpieces on the history of Makkah annually
8. Inviting a professor or a visiting researcher within or outside the Kingdom for giving lectures or preparing studies on the history of Makkah
9. Identifying excellent works on the Chair specialty and historic studies development
10. Funding the researches and joint studies on the Chair field
11. Providing counseling and studies related to the Chair specialty for all the governmental and civil sectors in return for financial funding 
12. Publishing a doctorate or master thesis on the Chair field
13. Holding round table discussion the Department’s academic staff and postgraduate students on issues and books related to the history of Makkah
14. Preparing a documentary on the history of Makkah over ages
15. Granting the annual Chair award for the best publication on Makkah history and its civilization made by academicians
16. Building a website for the Chair at the University website aiming at providing information about it and covering its news and scientific activities
