Abstract
This study aims to analyze the principles of transformative learning, and to link these principles with the foundational assumptions of the Islamic educational perspective. It focuses on understanding transformative learning and how its processes can be aligned with the values of Islamic educational tradition. The study seeks to develop an integrative educational framework that benefits from comparing the two philosophies and offers a model applicable to contemporary learning environments beyond the Western context. The study adopts a descriptive-analytical methodology, collecting and examining literature related to transformative learning and Islamic educational philosophy. It analyzes the central ideas within each perspective and identifies key points of convergence and divergence. This methodological approach aims to address the research questions and to clarify the potential for harmonizing both philosophies. The findings indicate that integrating the two approaches is feasible when certain considerations are taken into account. These include directing transformative processes toward ethical and behavioral development, which can help address issues such as low motivation, and burnout. The study highlights the importance of critical awareness in interpreting Islamic heritage and cultural contexts without compromising religious principles. The study recommends adopting this integrative approach to advance adult education practices in Arab and Islamic contexts by emphasizing positive ethical transformations and drawing on the practices of the theory to address certain inappropriate behaviors. It also emphasizes promoting critical thinking to enable a nuanced understanding of heritage and society. In addition, the study highlights the importance of effective dialogue as a key means for renewing religious understanding.
