Abstract
The purpose of this research was to present a proposed conceptual framework for the role of Saudi universities in developing interdisciplinary studies from the perspective of faculty members and experts. Furthermore, it explores whether there are differences in the Means responses of the study sample that can be attributed to variables such as gender, Specialization, and university. The descriptive survey method was used, along with a questionnaire as a tool for data collection. The questionnaire consisted of 30 statements distributed across three axes: (the role of university administration, the role of colleges, and the role of faculty members). It was administered to a sample consisting of 486 faculty members, selected through stratified random sampling. Additionally, the expert panel method was used as one of the future studies approaches to develop the proposed framework for the role of Saudi universities in advancing interdisciplinary studies, from the perspective of 10 experts who were purposefully selected based on specific criteria. The research yielded several significant findings, notably indicating that the role of Saudi universities in advancing interdisciplinary studies, as perceived by faculty members, garnered a high level of agreement, reflected in a mean score of 4.24. Among the variables assessed, the role of faculty members emerged as the most influential in fostering interdisciplinary studies, achieving a mean score of 4.26. This was followed closely by the role of colleges, which received a mean score of 4.24, and the role of university administration, which attained a mean score of 4.22. The research provided several recommendations, including organizing conferences, seminars, and workshops to clarify the importance of interdisciplinary studies and their role in improving the quality of scientific research.
