Abstract
The purpose of this study was to develop a proposed e-training programme and measure its effectiveness in developing the cognitive and performance aspects in the skills of creating integrated applications (Mashups) for female students at Hail University. The study used the experimental method with quasi-experimental design which based on one group and was applied to a random sample of 45 female students enrolled in the Computer and Information Technology course at Hail University. The study materials and tools included a proposed e-training programme, a list of integrated applications skills, a cognitive test to measure the cognitive aspects of integrated applications (Mashups) skills, and an observation card to measure the performance aspects of integrated applications skills. The study revealed a number of findings, most notably: statistically significant differences at the level (α ≤ 0.05) between the average scores of the study sample in the pre-test and post-test cognitive aspects of integrated applications (Mashups) skills, which were in favour of the average score of the post-test. There were no statistically significant differences at the level (α ≤ 0.05) between the average scores of the study sample in the post-test performance aspects of integrated applications (Mashups) skills and the required mastery level (85%). The overall results of the study showed the effectiveness of the proposed e-training programme in developing integrated applications (Mashups) skills for female students at Hail University. The study provides recommendations, including the utilisation of e-training programmes to train students and the implementation of the proposed e-training programme in teaching integrated applications (Mashups) skills in the Computer and Information Technology course.
