According to Article III oftheRegulation of the employeesofSaudi universities and the like, a standing committee shall be constituted in each university for the affairs of teaching assistants, lecturers, language teachers and researchers’ assistants. The committee shall be headed bythe Vice Dean forPost-graduation Studies andScientific Research. A decision stipulating its constitution and appointing its members shall be issued bythe University Council onthe recommendation of theUniversity Director. TheCommittee shall submit its recommendations totheCouncil and shall be responsible for the following tasks:
Proposing the general policy for the selection of teaching assistants, lecturers, language teachers and researchers’ assistants, and distributing them to the faculties and departments.
Expressing opinions on the recommendations issued by the councils of colleges on the appointment of teaching assistants, lecturers, language teachers and researchers’ assistants according to the following criteria:
Number of Saudi faculty members and their percentage of the total number of faculty members in the department, their minute specializations, and their teaching load.
Number of teaching assistants, lecturers, language teachers and researchers’ assistants in the department.
Numberofthose who are on scholarships fromthedepartment, their minute specialization, andtheexpected dates for their return.
Proposing the distribution of the jobs of teaching assistants, lecturers, language teachers and researchers’ assistants according to the needs of current and future departments.
Studying the recommendations related to referring the lecturers and teaching assistants to administrative jobs within the university or referring them to the Civil Service Department.
