The Scientific Committee of Makkah Portal for Research and Innovation has nominated the research proposal of Dr. Tariq Al-Afif, assistant researcher and academic staff member at the Department of Computer Science in Jamoum University College, Umm Al-Qura University, on a ‘system for detecting illegal landfills and environmental pollution using drones and AI’, to obtain a research grant within its awards for this year.
In this regard, Dr. Tariq Al-Afif stated that the research proposal revolves around detecting illegal landfills and environmental pollution using drones and artificial intelligence to identify their locations and share them with decision-makers.
He also added that the proposal aims to preserve the environment and contribute to the realization of the Saudi Vision 2030.
