His Excellency the President of Umm Al-Qura University(UQU) Dr. Bakri Bin M'atoog Bin Bakri Al-Assas, will open the scientific symposium organized by the College of Shari'a and Islamic Studies in collaboration with General Presidency for the affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque, on Wednesday 20th of Rajab 1437H. The symposium will be held under the theme: " the holy mosque, its virtues, etiquettes and manners", at King Abdul-Aziz Historical Hall in the university city at Abidia. The Symposium will be attended by the General President of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque, Sheikh Dr. Abdurrahman bin Abdul-Aziz Al-Sudais, their excellences, researchers, and stakeholders.
Meanwhile, the President of UQU, Dr. Al-Assas said the organization of such scientific symposium by Um Al-Qura University represented by the College of Shari'a and Islamic Studies stems from the shari'a perspective of its religious message derived from the message of the Grand Mosques towards the nation, and raising issues of concern to all Muslims, dealing with their affairs in light of the community changes, to be discussed by the scholars of the nation so as to come out with effective solutions in collaboration with General Presidency for the affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque.
Further, Dr. Al-Assas said the university will save no effort to undertake its scientific and community role proceeding from its responsibilities in this regard and in service of its country and Islamic nation. He expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Excellency the Minister of Education, Dr. Ahmed Bin Mohammad Alissa for approving this symposium, and for his continuing support for all scientific and educational programs implemented by the university. He also thanked the dean and vice deans of the college of Shari'a and Islamic Studies in the university and the organizers and participants of this scientific symposium, hoping that its recommendations will meet the desired goals.
Within the same vein, the Dean of the College of Shari'a and Islamic Studies, Dr. Ghazi bin Murshid Al-Otaibi, explained that the symposium reflects keenness of the college on all the contemporary developments of concern to the Islamic nations and their religious values.
Dr. Al-Otaibi indicated that selecting the Holy Mosque as a theme for this symposium aims at showing its virtues, and etiquettes to be adopted and applied by the members of the Islamic nations in their behaviors and rituals in the most sacred place on the Globe: the Holy Mosque", in light of the contemporary developments taken place in the life of the nation and to learn what to do and avoid seeking nearness to Allah in line with the vision of the scholars of the Islamic nation. He added that the symposium tackles four issues including; the Grand Mosque, its virtues, and etiquettes, jurisdictions updates related to the Grand Mosques, scientific efforts in the Grand Mosque and the architecture of the Grand Mosque.
At the conclusion, he expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Excellency the Minister of Education, Dr. Ahmed Bin Mohammad Alissa for approving this symposium and for supporting its activities. He extended his thanks to HE the President of UQU Dr. Bakri Bin M'atoog Bin Bakri Al-Assas for his permanent encouragement and close follow-up of the activities of the college and its aspirations. He also applauded the efforts and keenness of HE the General President of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque, Sheikh Dr. Abdurrahman bin Abdul-Aziz Al-Sudais for his support to this symposium, praying to Allah that it will achieve its set goals and reap the desired fruits.
