Umm Al-Qura University honored 1412 volunteers in a virtual ceremony organized by the Deanship of Students Affairs. The ceremony was attended by the General Supervisor of the University Vice Presidency for Educational Affairs, Dr. Ahmad Babalghith, on behalf of the UQU President, as well as the General Supervisor of the Voluntary Work Administration, Prof. Salih Al-Furaih, and the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Omar Sunbul.

In his speech, Dr. Babalghith stressed the importance of voluntary work and its role in instilling confidence in university students, honing their practical and field experience, and investing their time. Dr. Babalghith also viewed that voluntary work supports the efforts exerted by government in serving the society. In this regard, he praised the role of the parties that support and encourage voluntary work, represented by the colleges and supportive deanships at the university, in collaboration with the government and private sectors.

Moreover, Dr. Babalghith praised the efforts exerted by the student volunteers, either in serving pilgrims and Umrah performers or providing voluntary services and programs that serve the Makkan community. He added that the keen interest given by the University Administration to voluntary work is consistent with the ambitious Saudi Vision 2030, which gives great attention to voluntary work, seeking to develop this field and increase the number of volunteers to one million by the year 2030.

The General Supervisor of the Voluntary Work Administration at Umm Al-Qura University, Prof. Salih Al-Furaih, stated that voluntary work is a basic pillar of community service, and outlined that voluntary work, represented by the Voluntary Work Administration, receives the support and attention of the UQU President. Prof. Al-Furaih also extended his thanks to the Deanship of Student Affairs and the student volunteers for their blessed efforts.

Within the same context, the student Raghad Iskandar delivered a speech on behalf of the student volunteers, in which she praised the permanent attention, motivation, and support given by the university to urge its students to participate in voluntary work.

During the ceremony, the contributions of the student volunteers during the academic year 1441 A.H. were presented, and the parties supporting voluntary work from inside and outside the university were honored. In addition, the winners of the "Promotion of the Values of Voluntary Work" competition were announced, as follows: the first winner, Sakina Salim, a student at the Department of Qur'an and Sunnah at the College of Da`wah and Fundamentals of Religion; the second winner, Jihan Al-Sulami, a student at the Department of Kindergarten at the College of Education; the third winner, Muhammad Al-Shihri, a student at the Department of Judicial Studies at the College of Judicial Studies and Regulations.
