On Monday, 30th of Jumada Al-Oula, 1438, the Faculty of Pharmacy, represented by Dr. Alaa bint Zafer Al-Qahtani, Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry, participated in the scientific event organize by the Cultural Committee, under the sponsorship of the Dean of University Studies (girls division), Dr. Hala bint Saeed Al-Amoudi. This participation comes in response to the generous invitation of the Vice Dean of University Studies for Academic Affairs and Development, Dr. Shaikha bint Saud Ashour, and in coordination with Dr. Maryam Magali, the Coordinator of the Faculty of Pharmacy in the scientific event. Dr. Alaa gave a lecture titled “Chemical Analysis of an African Plants Family”, and discussed the importance of alternative medicine and uses of African plants in treating rheumatic diseases and nervous system disorders.
The study led to the separation of a number of chemical compounds that are anti-inflammatory and inhibitors of most types of cancerous cells.
The participation of the Faculty of Pharmacy comes as part of the distinctive scientific contributions by the Faculty, represented by its staff. At the end of the meeting, Dr. Alaa bint Zafer Al-Qahtani was honored by the Vice Dean of University Studies for Academic Affairs and Development, Dr. Shaikha bint Saud Ashour.
