The theme of ‘the status quo of volunteer work and its development toward an organized institutional work’ was discussed at a virtual workshop organized by the Voluntary Work Administration for the university’s male and female students. The virtual workshop was held in the presence of the General Supervisor of the Administration, Dr. Salih bin Abdullah Al-Furaih, and with the participation of a staff member at the College of Dentistry, Dr. Abdulaziz Salamtullah. Moreover, the workshop discussed the means of encouraging and motivating university students to participate with their time and effort in this humanitarian work.
The participants in the workshop studied the obstacles and challenges that may face the volunteer work system during different seasons and crises.
Based on its keenness and commitment to its social responsibilities, Umm Al-Qura University has established a general administration for volunteer work that keeps pace with the planned aspirations. This is in line with the national goals aimed at encouraging youth, urging them to engage in volunteer work to serve their communities and employ their energies and abilities in the service of the pilgrims and visitors of Allah's Sacred House during the seasons of Ramadan and Hajj.
