Yesterday, Monday, the UQU College of Pharmacy concluded the summer research school for the pharmaceutical disciplines in the university. The event was organized over a period of seven days via the virtual platform, in the presence of His Excellency the President of Umm Al-Qura University, Prof. Abdullah Bafail.
The General Coordinator of the School, Dr. Mahmoud Al-Rijal, reviewed the idea of the school along with its themes, number of participants, and number of submitted research projects. He referred to the role of modern technologies in developing the students' scientific research skills, providing them with scientific knowledge as well as supporting them in developing plans and mechanisms of statistical and qualitative analysis of medical research.
On his part, the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Dr. Faisal Al-Maliki, stated that the number of applicants to the school amounted to 120 male and female students, out of which 32 students were selected to join the summer school. The program included 20 lectures and 14 office hours to discuss the research submitted by the students. He added that 7 volunteer lecturers participated in the program. Moreover, the number of contributions of the male and female students amounted to 2347 via the e-platform, and the number of research projects reached 17.
The female participants spoke about the benefits gained from the experience of circulating ideas and the development of research skills, besides their keenness to make use of their summer in learning new skills in scientific research and serving the fields of their specializations.
His Excellency the President of Umm Al-Qura University, Prof. Abdullah Bafail, congratulated the students participating in the research school, and asserted that the research achievements they made could become the basis for publishing their research in international scientific journals. Finally, Prof. Bafail expressed his appreciation for the support and attention given by the wise leadership (may Allah assist them) to Umm Al-Qura University in all fields, and praised the role of scientific research and its importance in advancing the different universities and enriching their scientific and knowledge competencies.
