Students of the Media Department at Umm Al-Qura University launched an awareness campaign entitled, "Thank_Our_Media". The campaign is held with the aim of expressing thanks to the media outlets that contributed to spreading health awareness, most prominently their societal role in conveying live images to citizens and their constant contributions in cooperation with various government sectors during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Moreover, the master’s students of the department presented a short movie highlighting the role of the Saudi media in documenting the precautionary measures taken by the Saudi government in its various sectors to curb the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The movie makers: Sami Al-Qarni, Abdul-Majeed Asiri, Shafi Al-Dhubiani, and Rayyan Basafar, expressed their thanks to the media men who sacrificed their times and exposed themselves to danger, providing coverage at the scene to convey real time events to the citizens and to keep everyone updated and well-informed. The students managed to convey their feelings of thanks and gratitude for the professionalism and great sense of responsibility the Saudi media showed.
On his part, the Head of the Media Department, Dr. Salim Uraijah, stressed that the department seeks to convey a clear image that reflects the praiseworthy efforts and great work of the Saudi media. This comes within the mission of Umm Al-Qura University in the service of the country's media and its institutions. He pointed out that the work they actually presented is just a fraction of the great sacrifices made by the Saudi media and their concerted efforts with the rest of the government sectors.
