The College of Computer and Information Systems at Umm Al-Qura University has contributed four research proposals submitted by four researchers, which were accepted by King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST). The four research projects are presented within its quick support program which provides research grants to conduct research on the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). The College of Computer and Information Systems at Umm Al-Qura University has achieved the highest acceptance rate of 57%, compared to the computing colleges in other Saudi universities.
Moreover, the College of Computer and Information Systems at Umm Al-Qura University has recently obtained the largest share of grants for accepted research at the university by contributing two accepted research proposals in the "Research Capabilities" stream, within the International Cooperation Initiative. It has also contributed with a research proposal which was accepted in the "Grand Challenges" stream, in addition to another five research proposals within the same initiative, which was introduced by the Ministry of Education.
Furthermore, three research proposals submitted by three researchers from the college were accepted in the "Post-Doctoral Researcher" initiative. The College of Computer and Information Systems at Umm Al-Qura University has thus achieved the highest number of internal post-doctoral scholarships among all other winning UQU colleges, within the Ministry of Education initiative.
The College of Computer and Information Systems at Umm Al-Qura University has also established the Center of Innovation and Development in Artificial Intelligence to support research and scientific studies in the areas of artificial intelligence. The College of Computer and Information Systems at Umm Al-Qura University is known for its remarkable teaching and research staff, who train the undergraduate and master's students in a number of areas of computing and in specialized programs.
These achievements represent an embodiment of the goal indicators set by the college and its strategic initiatives in the service of scientific research. Moreover, they reflect the belief of the leadership team of the college in the capabilities of its male and female staff members to create a sustainable healthy research environment, with the support of the President of the University.
