Dean of Postgraduate Studies Meets 18 Foreign Scholars & Preachers Graduated from UQU

Dean of the Postgraduate Studies Professor Salih bin Abdullah Al-Firaih has met with as many as 18 scholars and preachers from nine Asian and European countries.

The preachers who were graduated from Umm Al-Qura Univeristy (UQU) visited Al-Abdiyah Campus alongside a delegation of scientists.

The meeting was attended by Vice Dean of Postgraduate Studies for Scholarships and International Students Dr. Ghassan bin Abdulaziz Al-Mahmoud.

Dr. Al-Firaih welcomed the delegation and called for boosting ties between the international graduates and their university. He said the scholarship students are part of a Saudi participation to spreading moderate culture in a bid to confront extremism and terrorism.

The meeting comes in line with the Saudi Vision which aims at enhancing status at the Arab, Muslim and international arenas, he noted, adding the international students gave an honorable model of the Saudi role in serving Islam and Muslims.

He reiterated importance of spreading moderate teachings of Islam in a way that mirrors efforts exerted by Saudi Arabia in fight against extremism and divergence. 

In 1437/1438H, there are about 500 students from various countries who were admitted in scholarship programs for diplomas, Master's and PhD degrees in Sharia and Arabic Language studies, he said, adding they were good representatives for their countries. The professor wished them success in study and work life.


Lastly, the delegation expressed thanks to the government of Saudi Arabia for helping students come to study from all over the world. They voiced happyness and love to the Kingdom and the Saudi people. Also, they extended thanks to President of the University Dr. Bakri Bin M'atoog Bin Bakri Assas and Vice President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Dr. Thamir bin Hamdan al-Harbi.
