The Head of the Intellectual Awareness Unit at Umm Al-Qura University, Dr. Muhammad Al-Saeedi, said the comprehensiveness of the speech of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques reflects the great national cohesion among the sons and daughters of this country in the face of crises, and confirms the uniqueness of the Saudi Kingdom and its wise leadership in ensuring human rights according to the rulings of the Islamic Shari`ah.
This was said yesterday, Sunday, during a distance lecture held by the unit through the WebEx system, entitled: "Implications of the Speech of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz (may Allah safeguard him)". The lecture was delivered by the Head of the Unit, Dr. Muhammad Al-Saeedi.
Dr. Muhammad referred to the importance of learning the implications of the speeches of the country's leaders, and that global media deals with these speeches as an opportunity to understand what is going on in these countries, in all aspects. He spoke about the legal description of the current situation, and the delegation given by the Basic Law of Governance in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the king in this situation, under article 62, which stipulates: "If a threat arises which endangers the safety or the territorial integrity of the Saudi Kingdom or the security and interests of its people, or hinders the institutions of the state from performing their functions, the king may take appropriate urgent measures to deal with this danger. If the king deems that such measures be permanent, he may take whatever actions that are required, pursuant to the law."
During the lecture, Dr. Muhammad referred to the king's words about the difficulty of the situation, at the local and international levels, and the optimistic spirit which the king derived from the following Ayah of the Qur'an: "Verily, along with every hardship is relief". He stressed the importance of following up the state's laws and responding immediately to the decisions issued in this regard, in addition to the national duty imposed upon the citizen and resident to cooperate with the health sectors and report cases with Coronavirus symptoms. Moreover, he explained the importance of staying at home to reduce transmission of the infection.
