In celebration of the International Women's Day, the panel discussion entitled: ‘Saudi Women and Their Communal Achievements’, was held on Sunday, 13 Rajab, 1441 A.H. In this panel, Umm Al-Qura University tracked the achievements of Saudi women in various societal activities in support of the development fields. The event was organized by the University's Vice Presidency for Female Student Affairs, in cooperation with the Family Affairs Committee of the Makkah Region Council.
The Vice Dean of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Institute for Hajj and Umrah Research, Dr. Sumayyah Hariri, elaborated on the institute’s contributions in establishing a specialized project to draw up a map of women's needs in the Hajj and Umrah system. The Vice Dean of Library Affairs, Dr. Aminah Al-Ahmadi, stressed the role of learning resources in employing women's scientific capabilities and enriching the outcome of personnel in the university.
In the same session, Dr. Manal Abdul-Rahman, Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography, highlighted the strategic plans adopted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. She also reviewed various significant data about the role of Saudi women, the most noteworthy of which was the increase of women economic participation from 19.4 % at the end of 2017 A.C. to 23.2 % at the end of the second half of the 2019 A.C., with a growth rate amounting to 20%.
