Mobile Journalism: A Training Course Provided by the Media Center for Media Students

Within the fruitful and constructive cooperation between the Media Center and the Media Department in the College of Social Sciences, and in order to fulfill its role in empowering university students and employees with media skills, the center participated today, Wednesday, in a training course entitled "Mobile Journalism", organized by the Media club at Umm Al-Qura University. The course provided an introduction to mobile journalism and the most prominent skills it requires.

The course was provided by the professional trainer Mr. Ali bin Hajib, one of the employees of the Media Center, in the Training Hall at the campus of the College of Social Sciences. The lecture introduced the idea of mobile journalism to the students, which is based on producing video reports using a mobile phone. The tasks of a reporter of this type of journalism are to bring the idea, write the story, voice-over, film, and montage.

Mr. Ali bin Hajib highlighted the skills needed for mobile journalism, such as a journalistic sense, writing well, structuring the story properly, and being experienced in mobile photography, in addition to knowing how to use the related applications.

During the course, students also learned about the forms of photographic equipment, kinds of shots, camera movement techniques, a brief introduction to the montage stage, the most prominent applications that contribute to the production of high-quality footage, and how to produce the footage following professional standards.
