His Excellency the UQU President, Prof. Abdullah Bafail, in his office yesterday, Sunday, honored the Excellence Allowance Committee and 19 academic staff members, who were promoted in the sessions of the Academic Council during the academic year 1441 A.H., for their academic and research achievements. The honoring ceremony was attended by the UQU Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, Prof. Abdul-Wahhab Al-Resini.

During the honoring ceremony, His Excellency the UQU President congratulated the academic staff members promoted in the Academic Council sessions on the fruits of their continuous research efforts, and their scientific and academic contributions to the university. He also urged them to continue with their contributions and advancement in the fields of research, and stressed the importance of scientific research and the important role it plays in the advancement of science and the enlightenment of the society.

On his part, Prof. Al-Resini stated that the Secretariat of the Academic Council always strives to support and honor the researchers and academics of Umm Al-Qura University, with a view to celebrating the refined status of knowledge and the honor of its seekers. He pointed out that their pioneering aspirations, academically and research-wise, enable the university achieve cognitive excellence.

The academic faculty members who were promoted:

1. Promotion of Dr. Ibrahim bin Atiyyatullah Hilal Al-Sulami, Associate Professor at the Department of History in the College of Shari`ah and Islamic Studies, to the position of professor.
2. Promotion of Dr. Osamah bin Ghazi bin Zain Al-Madani, Associate Professor at the Department of Media in the College of Social Sciences, to the position of professor.
3. Promotion of Dr. Fawwaz bin Ahmad bin Amir Saad, Associate Professor at the Department of Chemistry in the College of Applied Sciences, to the position of professor.
4. Promotion of Dr. Mahir bin Hamad Muhammad Al-Mi`iqli, Assistant Professor at the Department of Judicial Studies in the College of Judicial Studies and Regulations, to the position of associate professor.
5. Promotion of Dr. Ibrahim bin Nasir Ibrahim Al-Bishr, Assistant Professor at the Department of Shari`ah in the College of Shari`ah and Islamic Studies, to the position of associate professor.
6. Promotion of Dr. Muhammad bin Salih Ahmad Al-Mabrouk, Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics in the College of Applied Sciences, to the position of associate professor.
7. Promotion of Dr. Muhammad bin Yehia bin Sheikh Garullah, Associate Professor at the Department of Quranic Recitations in the College of Da`wah and Fundamentals of Religion, to the position of professor.
8. Promotion of Dr. Yasir bin Muhammad Saleh Hawsawi, Associate Professor at the Islamic Studies Center in the College of Shari`ah and Islamic Studies, to the position of professor.
9. Promotion of Dr. Ibrahim bin Salim bin Ruzaiq Al-Harbi, Associate Professor at the Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the College of Education, to the position of professor.
10. Promotion of Dr. Naiyer Shahrazad Tamiz, Assistant Professor at the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology in the College of Medicine, to the position of associate professor.
11. Promotion of His Excellency Dr. Abdul-Mun`im bin Abdul-Ghafour Haidar Asrar, Associate Professor of Arabic Language Teaching at the Institute of Arabic Language for Non-Native Speakers, to the position of professor.
