Today, His Excellency the UQU President, Prof. Abdullah bin Omar Bafail, launched the ‘Dorar’ Knowledge Platform of King Abdullah University Library. This platform is considered a knowledge portal which contains the university production of academic theses, original and photocopied manuscripts, scientific journals of Umm Al-Qura University and e-books, such as curricula, in addition to seminars and scientific conferences held at the university.

The ‘Dorar’ Knowledge Platform comprises more than 13 thousand scientific theses, 12 thousand digital manuscripts, 1,500 scientific articles, and a number of seminars, conferences and e-books.

Mr. Fayez Al-Juhani, Head of the Department of Academic Theses and Private Libraries, presented a brief description of the Knowledge Platform in the presence of His Excellency the President of the University. His Excellency the Vice President for Studies and Scientific Research, Dr. Abdul-Wahhab Al-Resini, His Excellency the Dean of Information Technology, Dr. Atef Al-Hejaili, and His Excellency the Dean of the College of Shari`ah and Islamic Studies, Dr. Ra'id Al-Usaimi, also attended the presentation.

His Excellency Prof. Bafail appreciated the information he reviewed and the efforts made by the employees of the Deanship of Library Affairs towards digitizing the contents of the platform and adding bibliographic data to each content. This helps researchers among our students at the postgraduate stage in particular, and all researchers in the Arab and Islamic world in general, to search for the contents of the platform in a variety of ways: either by title, author, subject, college, or academic degree. He also appreciated the fact that Umm Al-Qura University is distinguished by Islamic studies, and is considered a reference for religious sciences.
