The Dean of the UQU College of Applied Sciences, Dr. Hatem Al-Tas, asserted that giving attention to the different aspects of scientific research is one of the most important duties of the academic staff. This is due to the fact that this fulfills the UQU objectives and mission with regard to the development of scientific research and its results, and linking them to the community.

This was stated when Dr. Hatem submitted the results of the scientific research conducted by the college for the years (1436–1439 A.H.) to His Excellency the UQU President, Prof. Abdullah bin Omar Bafail. The results were submitted in the presence of the Vice Dean of the College of Applied Sciences for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, Prof. Basim Asghar; the UQU Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, Prof. Abdul-Wahhab Al-Resini; and the Advisor to the UQU President, Dr. Tawfiq Al-Sharif.

Dr. Al-Tas added that these reports are considered among the publications of the College of Applied Sciences that are used as references, both inside and outside the college. This is in order to publicize the research interests and activities of researchers at the College of Applied Sciences.

His Excellency the UQU President listened to a detailed explanation of these reports, which include abstracts of all the scientific research, books, and projects funded by the Deanship of Scientific Research and the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST). The explanation also covered the patents of the academic staff of all the departments of the College of Applied Sciences.
