Deanship of Library Affairs Holds a Course: ‘Bibliographic Indexing of Books According to the RDA Rules and MARC 21 Standard’

The Deanship of Library Affairs held a specialized course, in collaboration with the Arab Union Catalog Center, under the title: 'Bibliographic Indexing of Books According to the RDA Rules and MARC 21 Standard'. The course, which was held from 2 to 4 February, 2020 A.C., corresponding to 8 to 10 Jumada Al-Thani, 1441 A.H., targeted all the librarians of the Saudi university libraries.

The course was offered on the sidelines of the 19th meeting of the deans, directors, and officials in charge of libraries in the Arab Gulf region, and was hosted by the UQU Deanship of Library Affairs.

The course sessions were held from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and lasted for three days. During the sessions, the specialized trainees learned about the procedures of book indexation, according to new rules (RDA). Courses of this type aim to develop the indexers with regard to the technical procedures adopted at the university libraries.
