The UQU College of Public Health and Health Informatics participated with the General Directorate of Health Affairs, in Makkah, in the event that was organized to mark the World AIDS Day. The activities for the World AIDS Day were held at the Maternity and Children's Hospital on Wednesday, 7 Rabi` Al-Thani, corresponding to 4 December 2019, under the auspices of His Excellency the General Director of Health Affairs in Makkah region, Dr. Wael bin Hamzah Matir.
The event program included scientific lectures delivered by a selected group of consultants in infectious diseases. In addition, an educational exhibition on AIDS was set up, in which the college participated under the supervision of Dr. Salah Al-Din Alawnah and Her Excellency Dr. Laila Sulaiman. The exhibition featured informational booths about the definition of AIDS, the ways of transmission and methods of prevention of this disease, and guidelines about how to live with AIDS patients.
At the end of the event, the General Director of Health Affairs in Makkah, His Excellency Dr. Wael bin Hamzah Matir, honored all participants for their outstanding efforts in making this forum a success. The forum aims at educating the individual as well as the society about the seriousness of this disease, and the actions that must be taken in order to reduce its spread.
