The College of Public Health and Health Informatics participated in the diabetes forum held by the Institute of Consulting Research and Studies at Umm Al-Qura University, in collaboration with King Abdullah Medical City, on Monday, 5 Rabi` Al-Thani, 1441 A.H., corresponding to 2 December, 2019 A.C., at King Abdullah Medical City in Makkah Al-Mukarramah.
The forum included scientific lectures about the recent developments in diabetes, with the participation of consultant doctors in diabetes and endocrine glands from different health sectors. Moreover, there was an educative health exhibition, in which the College of Public Health and Health Informatics participated under the supervision of His Excellency Dr. Muhannad bin Qarub, His Excellency Dr. Salahuddin Alawnah, and Her Excellency Dr. Layla Sulaiman Al-Fakki.
The exhibition included some corners to inform about diabetes, the symptoms of hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia, ways to organize blood sugar levels naturally, the importance of physical activity and healthy life patterns, first aid methods for diabetic patients who are unconscious, and the manner of caring for diabetes foot.
The exhibition also included the distribution of awareness brochures related to diabetes, provided some healthy food appropriate for diabetes patients, and offered symbolic gifts for the audience.
The college was keen to participate in this forum out of its belief in the necessity of serving and increasing community awareness in dealing with diabetes, which was highlighted during the forum.
