The Physics Department (male section) presented a student event entitled, "Physics Is Simple and Fun", on Wednesday, 30 Rabi` Al-Awwal, 1441 A.H., in the Physics Laboratory 2 at the headquarters of the University College in Al-Leith. Thanks to Allah, the activities finished with all the students being enthusiastic and happy.
The event included a simple practical experiment using household appliances to make a simple electrical device in the physics laboratory: a galvanometer, which was made using a copper wire and a compass. The audience took part in making the device themselves, and tested the effectiveness of the device using conventional batteries to calculate the amount and direction of current passing through it.
The aim of this event was to draw students' attention to the fact that many physical phenomena and electrical devices began with simple tools that were available to their discoverers at that time. The students were also shown how any person with creative thinking and scientific curiosity could make a difference in the scientific and professional circles.
